In order to participate schools must be registered on the Eco-Schools Programme. Eco-Schools and none Eco-Schools intersted  in the competition should contact the National Eco-Schools Co-ordinator in their country - see How To Apply.

Project proposal documents involve the following:

• Introduction and outline of the problem to be solved;

• People involved in the project, including local partners;

• Project description, including how it will be carried out and in what way will it will contribute to waste reduction;

• Strategy and plan for disseminating the project at community level;

• Budget required to implement the project, including information on whether the school has managed to attract financial support from other organisations, such as the local authorities;

• Reasons why the project is considered innovative.
